timed shutoff

I've been trying to find a way to set a delay for shut off and something i can change easily. i tried shut off command in command prompt but the shut down command doesn't work - only logs off- and the delay doesn't work either.
any explanation why command prompt doesn't work and suggestions to what i should try?

Macs have a setting for this out of the box. Timed turn on, too.
