worth it to be Microsoft Office Certified?

Name: stlouisarch89 2006-11-06 14:10

My business teacher told me that you can have an increase pay by hour. I have been using "WORD" for awhile now, like 4years constantly. Anyone here Microsoft Office Certified? If so, what are the benefits that you have recieved?

Best part is that it will be Free. I believe the High School is paying for it, or something like that.

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I don't see the PC help board!

I will take this bait and be trolled

however, I will counter-troll

Being certified by Microsoft on any subject is about one rung lower on the evolutionary ladder from being able to tie your own shoelaces.

Please ignore my younger brother, >>2, he is a bit mentally challenged.

Do it just so you have something to put on a resume. It probably isn't worth much as far as valuable skills go though.

MS certs have become below worthless in the last couple years, as people have realized how much BULLSHIT goes into them.  People that have them are now seen as brainwashed Microsoft slugs, and that's no good.  Employers now want employees to be experienced with a range of things.  Even if the entire business runs on MS software, they still want you tobe comfortable and knowledgable with Linux and various unices for futureproofing.

I would take, and as #3 says, just to put as much as possible on your resume.

A lot of companies uses office (sadly) so can never hurt to perhaps know the little extra.
