Well, my computer is now a cesspool of viruses. It's nothing really critical. It turns off and reboots as normal. But whenever I get home after leaving it on all day, I'm treated to about 87 pop-ups. Nothing works. What are some good, possibly free/trial antivirus/antispyware programs I can use to eliminate (or at least lessen) the infestation?

my combo for safer computing on Windows: hardware SPI firewall, AVG (antivirus), Spybot S&D (spyware immunization and cleanup), SpywareBlaster (additional spyware immunization), ewido (additional spyware cleanup), HJT (spyware analysis), Firefox, K-Meleon, Thunderbird, Google, and careful computer usage
If you have a trojan/worm, you WILL have to do a manual cleanup. It's the reason you see people posting their HJT logs everywhere - so other people can tell them what to do. This can involve using a variety of specialized apps and registry editing.
Also, always keep IE up-to-date to a point (as in, fully-patched IE6 or IE7 is fine, fully-patched IE5 or IE5.5 is not possible and therefore not fine), but never knowingly run it as your web browser.
