The site you gave me doesnt tell me how to fix my problem. My photo editor works, its just that it cant open JPG files. It says "unknown file format". Also, I have to subscribe to see the answer in the site you gave me.

I have experts-exchange.com redirected to 127.0.0.1 in my etc/hosts because it sucks by spamming Google with information that looks useful, then you browse it and it's like a porn site, only with software-related questions.

Click Start and then click Run.

In the Open box, type regedt32.exe and then click OK.

In the Registry Editor, select the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tool

On the Security menu, click Permissions.

In the Registry Key Permissions dialog box, in the Name list, click Users.

In the Permissions list, under Allow, click to select Full Control.

Click OK.

On the Registry menu, click Exit

long shot.

right-click on the jpg image
then go to Properties
and if Read-only is box is checked. Uncheck it press Apply
and see if you can open it now.

No it's not Read-only. My problem applies to all jpg and png images. Bitmaps work just fine.

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-02 18:24

Can you open a jpg or png from with-in Photor editor?

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-02 18:38

Nop I can't open it from with-in the program either.

I know you were not looking for an alternative, but since your option to get this fixed is not looking good, here is a free one

.net Paint

Looks nice. I'll try it if nothing works for photo editor. I'm only wondering if there's a "set transparent color" in .net Paint? Because that is one of the main reasons I used photo editor (instead of having to open photoshop which rapes my rams).

Stop using that microsoft shit, even the GIMP has to be better.

Get a real image editor. Get Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.
