Best Free DVD burning program

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-31 19:00

I'm at my parent's house for a couple of days and I need to burn a few DVDs, unfortunately their shit Dell comp came with Roxio software, and it gives me errors EVERY time I try to burn something to DVD,usually 1/2 way through a burn, no matter what type of DVD media I use (YES it is a DVD burner). It does, however burn CDs ok.

So I am in need of a Free burning software, prefereably easy to use so my parents could use it too, and it'd be great if it let me copy DVDs (data) directly from a regular DVD drive without having to copy the data to the hard-drive first (Sonic RecordNow has given me shit on this before).

So what are your suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Honestly, I recently tried burning a bunch of DVDs and CDs in Windows (been a BSD/Mac/Linux fag ALL my life - HABEEB it), and was amazed at the serious lack of good burning programs.  Few even support burn verification, and of those that do, they're missing other key features.  Also, maybe it's a failure of Windows itself, but NO program was able to burn disks at the highest speed reliably.  NONE.  Same disks, same burner, but the ones burned in Windows using various programs failed, and the ones burned in Linux are still working (some even after two years, twice the expected lifetime of DVD-Rs).
