Graphics card failing?

About a week ago I was getting green streaks across my screen at random intervals and running any application that was 3-D would crash my system.  I updated my drivers and made sure my video card (a Radeon 9800 Pro) was firmly plugged in it's slot.  It seemed to work for a few days, but now the problem is occuring again (only now I can run 3-D applications, though there's visually a lot wrong with them).  Will I need to replace the graphics card?  Also, please ignore this if this isn't the proper place to post this.

Guess you've already done that, but just in case if you're 100% sure about your drivers' integrity.

Did you check your GC fan ? I have the same problem with random BSODs and streaks happening whenever I run a 3D-based app. Last time I had it checked, mine was completely stuck and wouldn't move at all. That probably is the reason.

If this is the case, I'd recommend replacing the GC as fans probably are almost as expensive.

LOL, what kind of fans do you buy?

Also make sure the heatsink is seated firmly. If the fan died, go for something like an ATI silencer. Or a Zalman cooler.

1. If you're overclocking anything, don't.
2. Check that your video card fan works.
3. Clean your video card heatsink.
4. Grease your video can fan.
5. Make sure your CPU and case fans are fine as well, greased, and clean their heatsinks too.
