Unicode password input for archives

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-29 14:30

I have just downloaded an archive from a Japanese uploader (Kasamatsu) but even though I know the password for it (which sadly is 2-byte, aka Unicode), I can't 1) type it directly because the langbar is disabled for password fields ; 2) copy and paste because it won't work, either.

Is there any archiver that supports Unicode password input (WinRAR, WinZIP and 7zip don't) or am I just doing it wrong ? Also, should I change R&L settings to Japanese for non-unicode apps or use AppLocale as well ?

Thanks in advance.

nope, but thats why i suggested it. lol.

but as a last result you could install linux in vmware. sorry i dont know of any windows programs that supports unicode input.
after a bit of googling, this came up, http://www.softpedia.com/get/Compression-tools/Infima-Ultimate-Archiver.shtml

near the bottom of the description it says some shit about full internal unicode support. but for input i have no idea.

Unexpected. This problem can be solved with Stuffit on Mac OS.

Still open to Winfail suggestions for future uses, though - because that might interest other raiders as well.
