P3 Cooling

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-27 20:02

I have a computer with a socket 1 Pentium 3 CPU and the fan is loud as hell. I usually just use it for storage, so I just leave the fan unplugged, turn it on, transfer files and turn it off. Recently, however, I've come into possession of a tape drive, and I've installed it there. My dilemma, then, is that I don't feel comfortable letting my computer run for extended periods of time without the fan and I can't stand the fan it has.

My question for you scholarly gents is, what's a good (quiet) compatible fan or alternative solution?

1. Remove current fan (30-60mm)
2. Purchase 80-120mm fan (preferably zalman)
3. Position fan over cpu heatsink
4. Set fan speed to minimum
5. ???
6. Profit

Zalman bundles fans with brackets and low RPM adapters.
