DVD iso: PAL ->NTSC

Name: tron 2006-10-17 12:06

so I have in my possession a DVD, but when I put it into my DVD player the image doesn't appear on the screen (other DVDs work obviously, and the disk I have isn't a pirated copy). So I assume it must be a PAL disc but I'm not sure. So I DVD-decrypted it onto my HD.

1)Is there a program to determine whether its PAL/NTSC
2)If it is PAL, could you point me (weak google-fu) towards a guide or program that could convert it to NTSC (yes I realize I'll have to crop the image or something - won't be a clean convert)

-thanks in advance

not really, doom9 has no guides that explicitly say how to convert from one to the other.

Maybe you should join the forums and ask someone.

try something like DVD shrink, I'm sure that must have an option to convert to NTSC.

Easy way of telling if a REAL dvd is pal : look on the DVD. It should have a BBFC logo on it saying either U (green triangle) PG (yellow triangle) or 12,15,18 (all circles).

PAL is not used just in the UK you know. Australia and New Zealand use it for starters, as does a large chunk of Africa, the Middle and Far East and a number of significant European countries (Germany, Spain, Italy, Turkey and many more). Many DVDs will have the picture format on the back of the case somewhere, and often on the disc too. If not, sticking it into any half-decent DVD ripper program will auto-detect the format.
