RAM configuration issue...

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-10 18:23

I've got one 1Gb stick of PC3200 RAM, and two 512Mb sticks of PC2700 RAM.

Do I use all of it, while stepping down all of the RAM to PC2700 (with an Athlon 64 3700+), or just stick with the 1Gb stick at PC3200?

Please and thankya.

And, uh, if that's too wordy, I can try again. :<

Duh. Go buy a matched pair PC3200 512Mb x 2 dual channel mode.

Yeah, uh, right.  As soon as you paypal me monies, I'll get right on that, buddy.

Anyone else wanna take a crack at it?

I say stick with the 1 gig at 3200, 1gig of ram can do plenty.

...But will it outweigh any advantages given by 2Gb of slower RAM?  Well, if you say so.  Thanks.

no one really needs more than 1 gig. most people dont even need that much. if for some strange reason you do need 2 gigs, thats a decision you have to make.
