anti-virus and such suggestions

Name: Anonymous 2006-10-06 23:47

OK so my Norton Internet security is about to expire and I am tired of the amout of PC resources that it takes up. I am also getting prepped to build a new Conroe PC so I am thinking if I should switch now is the best time. So please list any suggestions for anti-virus/software firewall/etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Get AVG, free edition.  www.grisoft.com

It's not perfect (doesn't seem to catch adware/spyware on my mom's computer that Ad-Aware did), but as far as free AV software is concerned, it's probably the best.

Thanks for the suggestion, will look into that. I am using a separate AD/SPYware program so that is not a prob.

Please post any other suggestions may as well look around while I can.

install zonealarm basic firewall, install firefox, block IE's access to the internet, and then you should be safe.

turn off your computer and make sure it powers down. drop it in a 43 foot hole in the ground. bury it completely(rocks and boulders will be fine).

uses no resources.
