Dedicated Hosting

I had a server with FDCservers: 512MB, 200GBRAM, AMD-1 processor, it was alright...The 100Mbit pipe was questionable but it was rarely slow. But now it's gone due to a fallout with someone i co-owned it with. I'm not liking their dedicated plans so much now (we got an "offer" via someone else, a referral) without referral.

I ran a website that's now temporarily closed while I resolve the "no-server" issue, but I'm thinking of expanding it with some high-load (not particularly high bandwidth, but I am likely to use in excess of 3TB/mo) extras.

Problem is, I'm a student and therefore poor. I really need to bring the site online (It had a community and there were many users...and I have the forumcodes and such)

I also like to run certain applications that are windows-only, so I'd be remote desktop-ing a fair amount. And can I remote desktop on a linux server anyway?

High bandwidth and relatively powerful server are what I'm after....preferably in russia...am I asking for too much?

am I asking for too much?
No, provided you're willing to pay for it.

You don't get a free lunch in this industry unless you know the right people, and even then that's pretty shameless.

You're going to have to find a stable source of revenue. If your site can't even pay for itself, let it go.

Paying more than $20/mo for a dedicated server is getting ripped off.
