Can someone solve this for me?

Open up a text document and type 'bush hid the facts'

Save it, close it, and open it again.

Can someone tell me why it turns all the letters into blocks? I don't want conspiricy theories, I just want to know why it does that, technologically speaking xD

Notepad saves files without anything indicating the encoding, so when it opens it again, it has to guess. Usually this works well, but for some short texts it fucks up. (In fact, this seems to work for any 4-3-3-5 pattern...)
