rebooting windows problem

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-17 21:57

Hello, this is how it all started.

I was torrenting some files. One was said to have some virus on it. I used AVG and it said the file was ok, so I ignored it for a few days. When I got back to my comp I had a blue screen of death. Ignoring it, I just restarted and it was able to get to my desktop. However it froze there and I restarted again. Now it got bad. Windows restarted after the loading screen. I tried safe mode, but it would also restart. I tried load from last known config and it also restarted. I loaded up knoppix hoping to find some anti virus for linux to help me out, but I am a linux noob, so it was very hard. I gave up, and went to reformat. All went good until half way near the end, I got the blue screen saying:

STOP: 0X000000f4 (0x00000003, 0x86264830, 0x862649A4, 0x80604450)

I have no idea what to do now.

any help would be great! thanks

You got a bluescreen while formatting? Right.

Get Ubuntu LiveCD, format with GParted, kill self.
