Acellerator? Driver?

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-13 11:50

I intalled a new videocard recently, an ATI Radeon Catalyst 9500, and went through the intallation process with the disk provided.  Great, everything works, but it's all slow.  This is not that old of a card, and my computer isn't even this bad.

Where do I get the necassary things to make games and such work.  I couldn't even run Armadillo Run.  Oh yeah, and I checked the website, got the driver, but all it offered to do was to repair and/or uninstall my .net framework (??).

someone halp. :<

"ATI Radeon Catalyst 9500"
1) Catalyst? What?
2) The Radeon 9500 is in fact, pretty old. Lurk moar. A lot moar.

Try using the Omega drivers, they don't need .NET

The drivers provided on the disk are most likely very outdated. I would FIRST uninstall those drivers (in the ADD/REMOVE programs window uninstall anything with that says 'ATI' drivers) completely and go to www.ati.com, get the latest drivers (get the 'DRIVERS ONLY' package, you shouldn't need Control Center). Uninstall old drivers, reboot when requested, install new drivers, reboot again.
Done.

Get rid of the Catalyst Control Center bullshit.
