Building a new computer...

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-13 0:11

I'm currently building a new computer, since my dad (works at Intel) got a huge discount on a Core 2 Duo processor and a motherboard, so we just decided to make a whole new box. Here's what I have so far:

Case:
Athenatech A100BB.200 Black Steel MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case 230W Power Supply - $79.182

Processor:
 Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M sharing L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Paid For - $165

Motherboard:
Intel DQ965GFEKR MircoATX Motherboard w/ Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 3000 onboard - Paid For - $135

Memory:
 Corsair 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR PC5400 TwinX Memory 667Mhz Los Cas Latency - $107.98

HD:
Maxtor 500GB HD Serial ATA/300 Hard Drive 16 MB Buffer 7200 RPM - $179.99 (unsure about this, since it's Maxtor and all, but I have never had any problems with Maxtor so...)

What should I add/take out, etc.? Any other suggestions?

I know, the motherboard is probably going to suck...I can't do anything about it, though. I'm going to try to convince my dad to get ATI's Crossfire, instead of the (probably shitty) onboard video support.

Thank you.

Life Safety Sytems Tech, actually. No need to get hostile. :)
Besides, as I said, everything is more than half the price it usually is. So you can't really say this stuff is CHEAP...and he only makes 100k a year as it is, and gives some of it to charity. So..yeah, we can't afford most amazing stuff that we want (Well, that I want, haha..)

Thanks for all the help so far! I'm not really the smartest of kids when it comes to computers (I'm not a total IDIOT, but yeah, not a genius), so I appreciate the posts. (The non-trolling ones, I mean.)
