os x video player/codecs

Name: Anonymous 2006-09-12 23:58

I've been using VLC and Mplayer for a while now, but they are just kinda a pain to use in some sorts.  Anyone got any other alternatives, or a place where I can download a codec compilation for os x so that I can just use Quicktime?  Thanks in advance.

what the fuck is wrong with you people, perfect reason to buy a mac is because of battery life, try to find a pc laptop that has as good battery life as a mac, i bought mine for the battery life, come here and all i find is "macfag", "lolz pc are teh 1337", "if you are a mac user you like to sukc teh moot cock", "macs cost to much money", well, i got my mac for 900 with my student discount, it has over a gig of ram, and a 1.5 gig ppc processor, try to find a pc laptop with semi-equal specs for that, they don't exist, now this doesn't really fit in this thread, but in regards to a lot of the posts on this board, the mac hating is fucking stupid, becuase this board is called "Computers", and i believe that includes macs

Except that there are certain things macs just suck at.  Playing non-Quicktime videos is one of them.  VLC and mpplayer are unfortunately the best options to date.  The WMV and DivX plugins for Quicktime are unstable, at least on my Intel mac.

i just figured it out, i don't know how i was so stupid, i installed DivX and Xvid pluggins, and it plays stuff fine,  it actually plays better in Quicktime than it did in VLC or mplayer
