flickering

for some reason my monitor never goes to sleep like its supposed to. also, if you have it on the lock screen or something you can notice that it periodically flickers (kind of like its refreshing), its not the monitor because it does it on both of them, im assuming the two are related.

also, it doesnt happen on a fresh reboot, and from what i can tell theres not a single program that i use thats causing it. anyone have any suggestions?

dont some video players have something to stop your computer from sleeping/screensavering/etc?
maybe its an issue with that.
