Make your own fucking computer. It's not brain surgery, and it takes twenty minutes, thirty if you're a moron.
I can give you all the parts you requested for your needs if you want.

$1200US for a machine that just plays movies?
Either you're getting expensive parts, or you want a game rig but don't want to admit it.

What he said. Seriously, I can give you a list of parts that will fit you just perfectly: I mean all you need is 1GB RAM, a nice Pentium (you don't need a Core 2 Duo for movie-watching), a 250GB Hard Drive, and a cheap motherboard, cheap case w/ fans, and some disk drives, an older-model GeForce, an a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 4, and an upgrade to Vista. That's literally all. If you shop smart, it won't run you more than 800.

what sites for parts do you suggest
cnet.com and follow the links. Anything you want, it's there, and you can simply shop around. Spend an hour on CNet, an additional thirty minutes on the sites it leads you to, get your credit card, wait a few days, get all the parts, assemble it, put it on your desk, hook it up, start it, install Vista/XP, and import all your shit.
