Suggested firewall

Name: Anonymous 2006-08-30 18:18

Ya, I came to my fucking senses and finally got rid of zonealarm. I know people warned me of it and I should of listened.

Ok, Is there a good firewall out there that is pure win?

i had good results with netlimiter 2 pro if you are looking for something a application-level gateway to keep windows/other programs from calling home

i messed around with tdifw but it crashed my computer, however the project may have advanced since then

No, no one wants to get into a nigger's PC.

HARDWARE HARDWARE HARDWARE HARDWARE

YOU FUCKING DOUCHEBAGS DON'T NEED A FIREWALL IF YOU PUT A ROUTER IN FRONT OF YOU

THE ONLY REASON TO HAVE A FIREWALL IS IF YOU ARE A STUPID BUSINESSMAN WITH A LAPTOP WHO HANGS OUT IN STARBUX WITH A DICK UP YOUR ASS

Lol, true. For all the purposes I need, firewall is interchangeable with router. I just need a device which does NAT between two Ethernet interfaces, whatever it's called.

iptables > pf

ANYWAY, >>9, for those of us who are forced to use winblows, for whatever reason, a process-based firewall is very useful and even necessary, esp. if your version of Windows is less than 100% legal.

Preferrably one that doesn't disconnect you on DCC SEND ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP

Sygate (last version before being killed by symantec) works well for me, very light on resources. Zonealarm Pro is actually really good, if your system can handle it.

omg you are so wrong on so many levels it is horribly disturbing

you are more wrong than the black guy in the horror movie who hears the squishy noises and goes to see what is going on

No, but you never know what a freshly installed program of that nature may do internetwise.  Best to be safe anyway.

Programs should not access the Internet without your permission, or unless they explicity say so before installation.
