There's no good time to buy a computer

Why get a dual core pentium when quad cores are coming out in a year?  Why get a snazzy video card when DirectX 10 cards are coming out in a year?  Sure I can get a decent system now, but in a year it won't matter.

Perhaps because the changes between DX9 and DX10 are huge, while the changes between DX10 and DX10.1 are minimal?
