"res:" protocol broken

Name: Z 2006-08-16 14:07

My "res:" protocol is broken, and I'm looking to find out how I can repair/fix it. Details on res:
http://www.microsoft.com/mind/0199/cutting/cutting0199.asp
http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/networking/predefined/res.asp

Anytime a page/program is opened and res is called, the entire process/program freezes. Which means the following programs freeze for me (just to name a few):
-IE Tab for Firefox
-Windows Media Player
-Trillian MiniBrowser

Doing sfc /scannow did not fix the problem. Lawl. Need help. :(

Forgot to mention. I'm using Windows XP SP2.

I have already tried reinstalling IE before, it didn't fix it.

I have also tried chkdsk, and the problem still exists.

sounds like a registry problem.

the registry sucks sure it sucks but it sucks, it sucks, and it SUCKS, which means that it is a pile of suckage.

try to system restore to the date before you had the problem.  if it doesn't work, i think you're fucked.
