Ok so here's the deal i'm a small time web developer in my town but i make lots of cash making small websites. usualy around 20 pages, the bigger projects have me making php and MySQL driven websites. Anyways i've got so many clients that i was thinking what if i made my own web server and i started to charge my customers less than what their paying on ipowerweb (10 gigs of space and 250 gig of trasfers for around 100$, Not one of my customers will ever fill that up)
But if i made one i could charge my 50 customers say 80$ a year and make an extra 4000$ a year just for letting use my server. Now i want to know if i should buy a server like prebuilt or if i'd be better off just making of out of old pc or mac parts. (i do have an old G3 imac and i've heard they make good web servers. But the G3 will probably not be enough. So what's better in the server world prebuilt or do it your self?
Also what kind of Os would be the simplest to use as a web server? I'm not the best at linux i do know enough to get by just not enough to go in and change major shit.
