Got a laptop, Sempron 2800+ with 256MB RAM running XP. It feels slow and crappy. I want to add some ram. Should I get another stick of 256 MB PC2700 SODIMM? Or should I go for a higher amount? Get a stick of 512 and just take the 256 out? Or leave it in? Not planning on playing games obviously. Recommendations?

Laptops feel slow and crappy to begin with. I've yet to find a laptop that didn't have at least a little mouse lag.
If your just doing internet, word processing and movies on it, 2x256 would be enough. I don't know if a laptop will run ram in dual channel mode or not but it would be the safe way to go for that reason.
Just my 2-bit opinion.
