system monitor app

looking for a small, simple and customizable system monitor that shows cpu, ram, and hard drive activity and the like. want to be able to put it on the side of the screen w/o it being a problem. ideally i'd like it to somehow not be inany kind of window, but more like set into the background. i was pointed to an app called 'samurize' but it's kinda annoying to work with. also, i'm hoping the app wont take up much system resources.

They aren't trolling, you tard. I used Samurize a while back, wanting to be l33t and shit. However, in no technical terms, it ran my RAM into the ground. All I had on the bar was something to measure internet connection speed and few links to folders, but it still noticably ran my computer slower. Even the built in  "Notebook Maximizer" Toshiba built in my laptop that measures HDD space and RAM usage is slow as fuck.
