Recently when ever I have utorrent running my internet stops working. I'm thinking its either the port I am using or the speed the program is running at. I have it at unlimited for download and upload so could that be it? Or is there something else that prehaps has been associated with utorrent that makes it act this way?

If you read on the uTorrent FAQ thingy you'll see that most people's internet aysmmetric. Meaning the Download and Upload capacity on the connection is different.
Best thing to do is probably do a connection speed test (Google it) and then set an Upload limit if you want to browse the net. Your net will slow down regardless unless you have a beast of a connection because the download takes up bandwidth.
The only other problem could be a virus or corruption present in your uTorrent software. If symptoms persist run a virus scan, adware scan and uninstall uTorrent. Download a brand new version from the uTorrent website and reinstall.
If this doesn't solve the problem then it is something MAJOR. capslock=cruisecontrolforcool etc etc. 2GET.
