I just got windows vista on a DVD; I was thinking I should install it on my spare hard drive which is formatted, should I do this?

1. Install old hard drive (Along side current one running XP)
2. Install Windows Vista on the old hard drive
3. ???
4. Profit

Would it work or would it fuck up me?

going from xp to vista is like getting married, vista nags you about every fucking thing you do but it looks good so you dont uninstall

But if I install it on a spare HD will it mess up XP? And how do I switch OS's?

it will be fine unless you install on the same hd as xp. and you can choose the os at boot time.

How do I go about installing it on the old HD once I have the old HD in the machine?

If you do install Vista, make sure you remove the other drive first. I've heard horror stories of people accidentally wiping the wrong drive. Also, you have no idea what Vista may do behind your back during install.

It doesn't hurt to be careful.

Wow so true.

I pretty much sum up my expierence with Vista like this:

"Oh cool it found my wireless drivers, alright connected. Ok internet explorer....AW KNICKER SHITS! >:O"

Okay, then just reintall the old drive after that? That sounds easier to do then having both in at once anyway. Thanks!
