Windows formatted iPod on a Mac

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-23 3:14

I've just recently gotten a MacBook, and my 60GB Video iPod is still Windows formatted. I've got 18GB of Music on it that I'd like to back up so that I can Macintosh format it and update it's soft/firmware. I've tried the Terminal, I've tried using TinkerTools, I've tried Senuti, nothing seems to import the 18GB that I KNOW I am copying to the HD, into my iTunes Library. I don't know where to go from here, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd love some help.

My guess is that the problem lies within it's Windows format.

you'll have to get a windows program to get the files off the ipod, move them to the mac with a network, and put them back on the ipod after mac-formatting it. sadly it's the only way, because mac is made of fail and aids.

Fortunatly for me (the OP) >>2 is very mistaken.

Found an application called Ollie's iPod Extractor which worked perfectly.

Thank you for your help.

uhhh, I use my vFAT formatted USB flash drives with OSX all the time, no problem. iPod should not be very different.

Your FAT32 formatted Windows iPod will work just fine on OS X. Just don't let iTunes erase the music on it.

Sentui can import all of your files off of your FAT32 iPod and into iTunes on OS X.
