AMD Athlon 2500+

I bought a swiftech heatsink that is really nice, and feel comfortable with overclocking now. What are the steps I should take? I have an A7N8X DELUXE motherboard that supports up to 400mhz bus. As of now with the jumper setting it only has the option to go 200.

I know that upping the FSB means I should also up the RAM right? If so...how and to what.

Thanks.

How good is your RAM? You may wish to manually set it's speed (I assume 400Mhz) and do enable the AGP frequency lock (I don't know what it is called on an A7N, on my A7V880 it is called asynchronous frequency).

200 mhz == 400mhz ddr
means that the 200mhz equal the 400mhz of ddr-memory. if you're lucky you can set it to 200 (400) an increase the multiplier to something like 11 (should be a 3200+ then). make sure to increase the "v-core" too, but not too much.

PROTIP: remove the battery on your motherboard to delete the bios settings if your system doesn't boot anymore.

GOOD LUCK.

There's no such thing as "DDR MHz". I hate stupid faggots and their megahurtz.

In this case, DDR != Dance Dance Revolution
you fucking weaboo

By what terms do you refer to operating frequencies for ddr RAM? I want to know.

PC3200 Corsair Dual Channel, so I guess I am good to upping the FSB to 200mhz.

However...changing the vcore settings sounds like I can fuck up my processor easily. It is at Auto, will that work out fine?

You will probably need to up voltage. Find out what stock is for your cpu. How far are you pushing the FSB and the multiplier? My 2800+ Barton was raised from 166MHz FSB to 200, and I had to push vcore to the max my A7V880 would allow (without a mobo mod) which is 1.85v.

Who said anything about Dance Dance Revolution? You are the fucking weeaboo who's obsessed with it. I meant Double Data Rate, and I wanted to insult the fucking morons who circle-jerk about their megahurtz. In fact, everybody who wanks about megahurtz, gigahurtz, or whateverhurtz is pretty fucking stupid, clueless, naive, and stupid.

I refer to them as MHz. For example, a 200 MHz DDR memory stick  works at, duh, you guessed it, 200 MHz. If it were QDR, it'd still work at 200 MHz. Nothing ever happens at 400 or 800 MHz in that stick. But "dude!" type people is too stupid to understand it.

On auto is stays about 1.75 I think I trust it. And CPUZ shows that I am overclocking at 3200+ speeds.

Unless thats not right I don't want to fuck with Vcore.

I know what DDR means. I assumed I could refer to the effective rate rather than the actual without confusing anyone. Also, you call them "MHz". WE were calling them "MHz", so I don't see a conflict.
