Retreiving registry?

Name: Sabator 2006-06-13 20:57

How can I retreive the registry from an unbootable Windows XP disk? I'm currently running it(160GB) as slave to a 10GB master disk with nothing but XP on it. This setup is probably much better, as next time windows Totally Breaks I won't lose everything. I've copied over stuff like the start menu(changed all the shortcuts, that was a pain) and firefox faves/extensions, but how can I get the registry moved over? And is there a quick way to fix it so all the references to C:/*/* are changed to D:/*/*? If not I'd probably be better off reinstalling all my programs.

You don't even need the registry.  It's just one more place for spyware and viruses to take hold, and even Microsoft knows that it is outdated; Vista won't have a registry at all.  Much like the human appendix, it is vestigial and can be removed to give you a safer and faster computer experience.
