Install more RAM if you can.

running ME is crime enough, but running it on a P1 - just jump infront of traffic now why don'tcha?
VLC media player
Firefox - don't trade it for the world, unless you want to use IE + Free Pop-Up Stopper = not a bad alternative
ifranview is nice
nod32
OLDER versions of aim = aim 4.7
still overall, it's worth the investment to just get more RAM

i have irfanview, media player classic and gaim/miranda for messaging. miranda seems unstable for me and continues to crash
i'm using k-melon which claims to be lightweight and uses mozilla's rendering engine so sites are still okay. >>7 i'll loook into those
is vlc better or worse than mpc?
i don't have linux on this system, not enough hd space, then again, i could make some

VLC is much heavier than MPC. It runs poorly even on high-end computers. I think it uses some non native GUI.
Vector Linux is the top lightweight Linux, but really: most Linux and Unix distributions are lightweight except the pre-packaged noob stuff like Ubuntu.
Miranda is still the best thing you can get. Ask on the forums. I've heard that the plugins are what de-stabilize an otherwise rock solid program.
