Has anyone tried installing a Linux OS, specifically ubuntu 6.06 using Partition Magic's "Install another OS"? Does it give you the option to not install on the MBR?

defrag first, and xp should be fine (make murphy's law work for you by backing up anything important). if the partitioner on the ubuntu install disk refuses to work for you(perhaps the reason you were looking into pm?), don't panic. when i installed ubuntu 5.10, i had that problem, so i used qtparted on a knoppix live cd to resize my xp partition, then the ubuntu install ran without a hitch
