If you like paying 3x-6x more than you would pay ANYWHERE else for a PC then sure, go for Alienware.

alienwarez aren't compatible with earth-based computers unless you run a xenuOS virtual machine

Alienwarez are definitely not the best  - they've started sneaking in 'own brand' bits and pieces such as the RAM which are bog-standard stuff relabelled, and their configurations, motherboards and choice of graphics cards are usually a few months out of date.  Try some other 'custom' companies - many of them offer more up-to-date configurations and have much lower prices.  Basically Alienware made a name for themselves with a pretty case and were one of the first 'custom' companies on the market.  They are now in the process of milking that fact dry, but have in the meantime been overhauled by their competitors.
