DELL P1110 Monitor Help Please

Yep, i got this from a friend for free. Now I know why. I am getting the super bright screen and those horzontal lines across the screen. All the text is blurry and and seems to zoom into focus in and out when I maximize a window or somthing eles. This is constant and nothing I do can change it. I googled it and found some solutions:

1) There is some secret option on the monitor to fix it.
2) Make/buy some cable to connect the monitor to the computer and change the settings of the monitor.
3) Open up the monitor and solder some stuff/fix somthing.

If anyone has one of these huge monitors and has fixed then can ya please help me out? I am thinking to just throw the thing away if it is too much a hassel to get fixed. Thanks!

It's really easy to fix. Open the monitor, solder in ONE resistor, power it on, leave for half an hour and then run the 'Color Return' function from the menu. Good as new. I run two of these beasts and have fixed over a dozen others. There's guides online for it, it's literally a half hour job.
