^_^ Im planning to screw microsoft in the ass :)
Im moving to linux from windows (Im going to use ubuntu) but  I need to know some stuff

1. What's the best MP3 player for ubuntu?
2. What exactly is WINE? Does it enable you to run windows programs? (I need to get my mp3 player software working on linux)
3. Is there any essential applications which would be tremendously useful for editing pictures (like GIMP) or anything like that?

1: I heard ppl like Armarok.
2: Yes you can run Windows-programs. While you're at it: Befor uninstalling Windows, better burn the Windows-directory on a CD/DVD. If any dll are needed, then you have them!
3: Gimp

lol, yes because one less person to pirate their OS and bad mouth their superior programming is going to hurt them SO badly.

1. i'd recommend quodlibet (http://www.sacredchao.net/quodlibet). it does not have as much features as amarok, but its very nice. you should try mpd too, its a music daemon, which is controlled with various (g)uis.
2. yes, but it doesn't always work flawlessly. most of the time it works ok, though. what mp3-player do you have? i'm shure you don't need windows-software to use it.

WiFi works fine. WPA_Supplicant is easy to use if you're not a retard.

Yeah, yeah.  Everything is easy under Linux.  If it doesn't work it's because you're stupid and didn't RTFM.

You can't say Linux without compile.

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-14 3:18

>>11 sure you can. "apt-get"

Worth pointing out that due to patent issues, mp3 doesn't work out of the box in Ubuntu. However it's dead easy to get working. Follow the instructions in this guide: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats
Takes maybe 10 minutes and you'll have all your codecs both free and non-free as well as Flash, Java and (if you're a fag) access to iTunes music store.

I love it when a good program comes out for Mac or Windows and you see the Linux fanboys beg for a version on their OS.
