Cleaning Copper heatsinks?

Name: Anonymous 2006-05-09 3:45

I've got a Zalman passive heatsink that's managed to acquire a good amount of 'roasted' dust and Copper(I) Oxide (the orange/black stuff); adding to that, there's the shape of the fins making cleaning difficult. What suggested ways are there to clean it?

run it under water and dry completely. should remove the crap from within the fins

When i sold my CNPS 7000CU i simply removed the Fan from the Cooler and put the Heatsink part into the Dishwasher, was nice and clean, but lost its sheen because of the rather aggressive cleaning fluid used, wort a try imo
