SWF will not open in Firefox locally.

Okay so here is the problem.
I will go to a Flash (.swf) file that is stand alone, OR one that is embedded in the page, and it will try to load it but will quickly say Done in the bottem corner. Nothing will play, no sound, no picture, just a while screen if its a stand alone, and nothing will even be there if its just embedded.
i tried updating my drivers and updating my Firefox plugins and such, to no avail. i dont know what i should do about it.

(btw .swf files work fine in IE for some reason, but i would MUCH rather use firefox. cause its safer, and more conveniant, and less annoying...)

thanks for any help.

do you have Adblock installed? Uninstall it and install Adblock Plus -- as far as I remember, adblock isn't being maintained and it was thus forked to adblock plus to solve this and many other issues and add features such as whitelisting.

i did so, and it is still not working at all, i went to /f/ to test it and its still doing the exact same thing.

i was looking around here, and i saw something about the firefox thingy about:config . Is there somehing that i should do in there maybe?
