so i got an old 400 sumthin MH processor my friend is using, and i was curious as how to over clock it. its one of those processors that look like nintendo cartridges O_O.

what kinda programs would i be looking for? its an old ASUS board, i beleive.

Well it being a slot processor is probably going to make it hard to get new cooling, so that's a minus.
To be honest unless you can find a way to get a BIG speed increase, it's not really worth it. If, on the other hand, you just want to overclock for the sheer hell of it, go for it, but be aware it could break your processor. Can't help much on specifics mind.

Indeed, for an old computer that would seem like a better idea, an older processor should work well with passive cooling, but of course there's the power supply and drives to consider - in my desktop the noisiest component by far is the optical drive.
