So basically my 9800xt is a piece of crap. It overheats all the time, ruins games, and shuts down my system every once in a while.
Now, what I am asking you guys is what is a good graphics card I can replace this with. Nothing too expensive, but I can do like $200-$300. Also, would like a graphical improvement over my current graphics card, and certainly more stability/less overheating. Thanks ahead of time.

or if you're a fanboi of ati then get an x800xl(t) from like Frys and bribe someone 10 bucks to give you a manager discount or employee discount

good tell him to buy it for you with his discount and try it out for 29 days, if you're not happy just return it and try another type.

Is there anyway to find out if my motherboard has a PCI express port on it without opening it up? Just wondering if I have to get an AGP or PCI express......

pciexpress and agp cannot exist together on the same mobo - so if it says agp, then you got agp.

Once you find your system's specs, look up price range and best ratings.
The overheating, game/system crashing may be a symptom of bad overall treatment of your computer/card. Was the card running of a stock cooling system? Is your computer old, pre-built, enough airflow, etc?

I have a 9800PRO with XT PCB that I flashed the BIOS back to an XT. I just slapped a nice heatsink on it and it runs at a stable temp. It's a little hot and has minor artifcating (hence why it was sold as a PRO) but it never overheats or otherwise.

My computer is about 2 or 3 years old, pre-built Dell XPS Gen 2.
I have not done anything with it since I bought it.
I'm using mbm5 right now and my cpu is at 132 F and my case is at 113 F. Is this bad, and if so how can I fix it?
