gaming PC's

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-15 6:59

I'm a complete computer noob as far as hardware goes but I want to buy a gaming PC straight off the shelf instead of bothering to put one together. Moneys not much of a problem so throw me some good off the shelf gaming PC's.

PUH-LEAZE.

Alienware, for all your overpriced gaming needs :)

Haha I was actually tempted by Alienware til my friend told me how shite their customer service was, that and how horribly overpriced yes.

if you buy a gaming pc off the shelf, expect it to be overpriced, underpowered, but with a hella cool looking case.

check out the reviews on pcworld, they get prebuilt machines from manufacturers and rate them.

if you are too stupid to build a computer you do not deserve to have a computer

That's the ONLY accomplishment achieved in this thread so far!

The closest you'll get to buying a gaming pc off of the shelf FOR A DECENT COST (not that it matters ho ho ho ho hoooo *caviar and spotted dick*) would be to buy an EMachines AMD64 base model and have a store technician install a graphics card and extra memory. Otherwise you can be a fag and buy alienware since everyone with decent computers actually puts effort into it.

it seems I've offended lots of people, you people seriously need to take your joysticks outta your asses and maybe accept that someone who enjoys PC gaming DOESN'T know about the latest hardware and how to put a PC together :3.

FOUR OH FOUR, SO SAD.

I really recommend building your own.  I'm not flaming you or anything, I'm just saying that it will be much better to do so for your own sake.  Most people are scared to put a computer together for the first time because they think only those who are *really* into computers and how they work would know how to do it properly.

To be honest, it's actually really easy.  You get all the components you need (this is actually the most involved step) and pretty much just plug things in where they're able to be plugged in.  It's really that simple.  If something fits, it almost certainly goes there.  The only points of confusion might be with the hard drives and DVD drive, since they can plug into one of multiple IDE or SATA slots, in different configurations.  PCI and PCI-e devices can be switched around, but their order usually doesn't make any difference.  Other than that, put stuff where it fits.  It may be a bit more work, but it can literally save you over $1000.  Not only will you save money, but you'll learn a fairly valuable skill.

Step 1: Buy ANY PC magazine. (Gameing would be best)
Step 2: Look at the adds in it.
Step 3: Ask here if its good.
Step 4: Buy it.

Thanks for a sensible reply, my friends actually offered to help me build one so I'll see how that goes.
