MepisLite is apparently designed to run on older hardware (i.e. computers that were made to run windows 98).  There's also Vector Linux.

im running a LiveCD of Feather Linux now, it seems ok. (where is the ctorrent that was suppost to be included) i can make a partition for linux or exchange the life of one of my usb pendrives into the /home/knoppix directory or other directorys. then use 'knoppix restore=sda1'

Whatever you choose, can you go pick up some more RAM? You'll be happier in the end. It doesn't cost much and it'll make such a difference.
