Stuttering import of cam videos Premiere 6.0

Name: Anonymous 2006-04-08 11:33

Hi all, question...

I have a canon mv830i camcorder and recently bought a firewire pci card thingo to plug the cable in to import my video recordings onto the comp.

Anyways, I first used Windows Movie Maker and imported it from there, all good (exept shitty wmv quality, even on highest quality). No stuttering, no laggy video.

Anyway, I tried to use Premier to import (capture, whatever) the video from my cam, and it jumps lags and stutters on a consistant rate. Why? It also does it in Cyberlink Power Producer.

What is wrong? Should I change some settings in premiere 6.0 or something?

If you can import it fine with Movie Maker, it sounds like Premiere is just having trouble playing back the file smoothly (underpowered processor, hard disk too slow, or some other reason). Have you tried encoding the video as DVD-compliant MPEG-2 or some other easy-to-play format?
