Help! Info on computer graphics in games?

Name: Anonymous 2006-03-26 21:52

Hey all...

I have a paper that's due in rather soon, which I have completely failed to plan in advance. It is to be a report on the technology behind computer game graphics. I need to research, rather urgently, some info to put in this report, namely:

1) A brief history on the advancement of graphics.
2) Information on various graphics techniques used today, such as lighting, texture/bump maps, shaders and HDR.
3) A system flow diagram for a GPU or PC (running games)... I have NO idea where to find this...
4) Stuff about graphics in the future.

I know there's the usual Google and Wikipedia stuff, but do you know of any other resources for this kind of info? Of course, I'm not asking anyone to do my research for me, but if anyone knows of any excellent sites of relevance, please let me know... your help would be greatly received and much appreciated!

End-user information:

Well, at first graphics were ugly, like 5 KB, lol, but now they get better because they have more megs, for example new cards with 256 MB, and even 512 MB, wowza! In the future we can expect 1 GB and 2 GB cards for even faster graphics.

The only thing you need to know is:
If something is in a game and hyped a lot, it means that is a complete revolution in computer graphics, that noone did the same thing 30 years ago. Just like having more than one processor in a computer, I mean, that is completely revolutionary and new!!
