Why is my hard-drive so slow? Why does it take 30 seconds to turn my computer on? Why do I have to defragment? Why do news sites only offer 300x200 Real media videos? Why does my keyboard get full of hair and dust? Why are DVDs as slow as CDs?

This is bullshit. I don't want a jetpack, I want progress. We moved from no internet to the world internet in 5 years, and yet we're using the same data-storage technology we have been since data-storage was invented. Why should Google be giving me spam results, why should I be receiving spam, why can't shit just work? Computers suck, and people who think they're high tech for using tech are just apes using ape tools.

In 1992 or so, a harddrive in a desktop PC read from the platter at about 50 to 140 kb/s (~300-500 kB/s if you had a SCSI subsystem). Desktop machine HDDs today push over 50MB/s, and the seek times are 4-6 times faster.
