Blinky Monitor

Name: Honis 2006-03-10 0:47

I just aquired a really old monitor from my brother.  It's a Toshiba and came as a computer package ages ago.  I currently have it setup as a second monitor for notebook.

The problem is that it blinks off for a second or two at seemingly random times.  My brother has told me that it did this to him to while hooked up to his laptop.

His video card is a Radeon 9800 (9600?) Mobility and mine is a Radeon X300 Mobility.

I have never had this problem with a second monitor hooked up and my brothers current monitor does not "blink."

It would appear the monitor is broken.

Check the cables/pins for loose contacts. But since that's probably not the case wait for a more knowledgable person to post what exactly you should be looking to fix inside the monitor.

Open the monitor and touch all metal parts with your fingers. If that won't kill you, try opening parts and touching inside them.
