DVD Drive always noisy when a disc is inside

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-27 3:33

Whenever a disk, be it a CD or a DVD disk, is inside the DVD drive, it always makes a very noisy spinning sound whenever it's being accessed. Besides this, the drive works fine, but it's annoying and very loud. Is there any way to stop this?

Buy a new drive

Protip: the slowest ecks the faster and more silent the drive is. Fuck those marketing dumb fucks and lusers who are like "wowza, it's 10000X d00d!!! 1000 times better than 10X! R0X0R OMG!".

What kind of drive is it? I've used high-speed (16x+ DVD, 52x+ CD) Plextors and I've always noticed they were loud when they spin.

Most fast drives do this. You can either stuff the box under the table, on use headphones.

It's just the way things are. :|

Some drives offer speed limiting options..

try it without the disc inside.
