I dont really know how to describe this. I have 2 computers, behind the same router. this one i am on keeps loosing the internet connection. both have static ip's and i even changed out the nic and cord for this tower and it still dose it. i had something simmilar happen before with 'local area cable unplugged' flash up for a couple seconds, but was found to be a faulty cable. anyone else have troubles like this or know what the heck is going on?

Next time your internet dies, try pinging google.com. If that fails, see if you can access your router homepage. If that fails, I'm pretty sure you're looking at a local machine issue. Possibly spyware or corrupt network or something.

Did you change the ports you plugged the cable into at the router? Maybe that has some problems

i think its partly computer, partly isp. the net hiccups on this one, and the other one just cant get browsers to work or msn, etc. yet other net programs like dc++ still work and dont time out. i didnt change router ports because i dont think that is the problem because its only 3 months old if that.
