Lost Hard Drive after defragging.

Name: Anonymous 2006-02-11 9:58

So I defrag'd last night for the first time in a long time for one drive(160 gig), and the first time ever for another(300gig). I've only had the 300 gig for a month, and my 160 gig for a little under a year. I haven't defrag'd the 160 in months.

My problem now, after defragging, is my hard drive(160gig) is missing. I checked up my bootup device and it says it's there, and I checked my device manager, it says it's there, too. It's not showing up in My Computer though. I don't know how I should go about this in repairing it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Using XP pro, by the way.

Forget this post. I fixed it, kind of. I ran max blast and it said it wasn't running properly, and that's all i read. I ran it without reading and went away, came back and it formatted the HD. Moral of the story? Read before you do shit. :(

Even if it was formatted, your data's probably still there. There are various commercial tools that will scan for the remains of files and allow you to recover them (e.g. 'GetDataBack').
