AOL Hijacked My Computer! HELP!

So my dumbass brother decided to install AOL on my computer (for reasons unknown to me), and now my computer's been hijacked by this piece of shit!  I can't access the Internet via Internet Explorer (which normally isn't a problem, since I use Firefox, but I find myself coming across IE-only sites every so often), but more importantly, I CAN'T RUN TORRENTS!  I installed AOL and deleted every trace of it I could find, but my computer is still fucked up.  What can I do, other than reformat?

Kick your brother's ass and start using more draconian user policies.  IE, he has no access to an administrator account after you re-install.

System Restore a no-go then?

If system restore doesn't work:
1. murder your brother with an axe and bury him in your back yard.
2. Get Spybot S&D and Adaware and update and run both
3. Go and make sure your brother is dead, if not use a blowtorch on his face.
4. if spybot and adaware didn't fix the problem, reinstall windows without reformatting, you'll have to reinstall most programs but you wont lose any files.
5. Spray toxic chemicals on your brother's shallow grave.

6. download Firefox again
7. smooth sailing

How do I reinstall Windows without reformating?

Don't.  Just reformat.  You know you need to do it anyways.

1. Reformat
2. Install Linux
3. Profit!

Following on from what >>7 says. Just back up all the files you want and refoormat. Getting everything back to the way it was is easy enough
