iBook 12" for linux use. Pro/con?

Name: Anonymous 2006-01-21 18:31

Subject says it all. Points for and against me getting an iBook 12" lappy for use with Debian GNU/Linux. Apart from the "penis, meet bucket" factor; that I can wriggle out of with my extreme feats of mental contortionism.

Yeah, >>2.  It's not "Macs suck."  It's "Macs are too damned expensive."

Expense is why I'm considering it. 1069 EUR for a 6-hour battery life, reasonably powerful 2,2kg lappy sounds pretty good. For a linux user the CPU being not x86 doesn't matter all that much since I haven't had binary-only crud on my x86 desktops for a couple of years now.

It'll be pretty much guaranteed that all the hardware will work, since its all known to be standard apple stuff, unlike wintel laptops, which usually have some driver issues in linux.
